MY WORK FOR CLIENTS RARELY FITS INTO ONE CATEGORY such as “design,” or “communications planning,” or “brand development.” I shape communications while moving between several disciplines.

The client relationship has to be great. The services have to be configured in response to a unique set of requirements—always seeking to integrate strategic, logistical, budgetary, and creative concerns. As a result, I become a small, full-service agency for some projects; and for others a designer, a photographer,
or a traveling writer—visiting facilities, interviewing assembly line workers, economists, faculty members,
or managers. When appropriate, I enlist the skills of other professionals who specialize in just one area
of communications. Always, the mode of operation is to keep the processes organized yet fluid, keep the consultation and coordination informal and candid, keep the day-to-day work satisfying for everyone, and tailor the meetings to the needs of the participants.
